Memorial Hunt

Each year this event has gotten bigger than the year before and this year was no exception. At least 25 people were there. There were many stories of past finds, plans for the future, and discussions of what was found. There were many good times both the night before and Saturday at the cook out. This is a good bunch of people. There were more experienced hunters helping the less experienced both in where to go and in explaining what was found. From the people I talked with the best times seemed to be at the cook out as it went on till after midnight around the bonefire. This was a time to renew old friendships and make new friends.

Most of the group arrived at various times on Friday. That night it looked as if this was going to be a tuff weekend. The wind was blowing out of the west at 25-35 miles per hour. The waves were producing white caps on the lake and the expected low that night was around the lower 40’s. One of the first things almost everyone noticed was how low the lake was. It seemed to be between 7-10 feet below normal. Saturday morning was a bit chilly but by 8:00 there were a bunch of people out hunting. By noon is had turned into a beautiful day with lots of sun and temps in the 70's. Sunday was a copy but just a tad warner. From what I could tell everyone found something good to take home. I couldn’t get a picture of all the finds but below is a small sample as well as a few shots of the cook out, the birthday cake (Mikes Mom), fireworks (the Lincoln county police Department stopped by also), lake views, and other good times. Hope you can make it next year if you missed this one. Related pictures can be found in the News section of Outdoor Outfitters web site.

See you all next year!

It was almost dark when I got there but I was able to make out some fellow hunters on the beach Friday night.

Saturday morning some walked some used boats and some used ATV's to get to their sites.

Just about everybrand of detector was in use but the Fishers and Minelabs were most common.

A view of the lake Saturday about 8:00. These islands where completely underwater a few years ago!

This is a glued together view of the lake from the resort we stayed at.

Burgy did the cooking (and he did a great job!)

Fire works!

Birthday candles!

Just SOME of the great finds!
