The Dane Co. Sheriffs department asked for help from the Four Lakes Metal Detector Club from Madison WI in locating buried items on a property that was confiscated near Wyocena, in Columbia Co. Wi.
I and about 10 other members arrived about 8-8:30 on Saturday, April 7th. It was a bit colder than normal for an April day. Although it wasn’t a record it was still cold.

After we arrived, we were given instructions on where we would be searching and what we should be looking for. We also were shown a map of the area. Much of the area is wooded but, there was a lot of open areas as well.

The instructions we received before getting told us that we would not be doing any of the digging, there would be an officer with each detectorist, to flag and/or dig targets that we ID.

After the meeting we all got out our detectors and went out to the area to be searched.

Many items were found that were not part of what the police were looking for. Some of the items were a large stake, A large hot rock, many deer skeletons, and even a piece of float copper.

About mid morning some heavy equipment was brought in to dig up some of what seemed like large objects.

After a hole was dug by the heavy equipment it was checked again with a metal detector

The local TV news crew showed up to see what we were doing.

During the lunch break we were shown the tunnel that was on the property

There was some brief excitement after lunch as some suspicious items were found in one of the pits.
However, no cash, no guns, no new hidden tunnels, no buried car and no bodies were found.
The investigation is still under way.

All participants were given a souvenir for a most interesting day!!!
